ARKS DConv - auxiliary program for converting original experimental data

A wide variety of thermal analysis instruments is used for  investigation of chemical reactions. Each instrument has today the computer-based system for experiment automation, data sampling and storing. Unfortunately there isn't any common file format for experimental data storage. As it is often necessary to process the experimental data with some second level program other than "native" one, the problem of data exchange arises.

The reasonable way for solving this problem is to use the auxiliary converting program (Data Converter). Data Converter (further simply DConv) works with a rather free-form ASCII file and Excel sheet. It allows you to read the file, to analyze it and to choose only the necessary information. In addition you can make some elementary data processing (for example to change units to the standard ones). The Converter output files are used directly by the programs of ARKS data processing suit TA, AC and RC that belong to the TSS-ARKS software.

The DConv being invoked form any of the above mentioned programs adjusts automatically to specific features of data to be converted.

The use of the templates gives you the possibility to save the method of structural analysis for the particular files with the same extension or any other files. If a template has bee associated with file extension then this saved template will be automatically loaded whenever you load the file with the appropriate extension, otherwise you can select the appropriate template from the list of the saved templates. Afterwards all the parsing will be made automatically.

DConv allows loading raw data containing up to 20000 points. If original data have more than this number the set has to be preliminary thinned out otherwise DConv will cut the tail of data starting from 20001 point.

DConv can read multi-sheet MS Excel books but data must be presented on the first sheet. If your data are on the second or further sheets you have to move the sheet with data on the first position, save the modified Excel book and then load data.

ARKS AC program and its predecessor ADaExpert provide initial processing and analysis of results of pseudo-adiabatic calorimetry and transferring them for further kinetic analysis to the ARKS FK and ARKS CK  software.

ARKS TA program and its predecessor TDPro provide initial processing and analysis of results of thermoanalytical experiments (DSC, TG, DSC-TG, DTA) and transferring them for further kinetic analysis to the IsoKin, ForK  or DesK software.

ARKS RC program and its predecessor RCPro provide initial processing of reaction calorimetry data and saving them into the data base which is common with the ARKS CK software. That is why there is no need in transferring data for kinetics evaluation into ARKS CK.

The program packages from the ARKS Kinetics suite ARKS IK, FK and CK   provide solving main problems which arise while investigating chemical kinetics.


Installation:

Important note:
             ARKS DConv is the auxiliary program that is used by the applications of the Data Processing Suite
             ARKS AC, TA and RC. It is useless as a standalone program!

Requirements: Pentium V or higher, at least 512Mb of memory,50Mb of hard disk space, Windows  XP,  7, 8, 10

The ARKS DConv setup is delivered via Internet as an archive file therefore you should first extract the setup and then follow with installation. The current version is 1.0.2
