Version 3.0.0 released 14 May 2025

What is new in ARKS HA v.3

1. Essentially enhanced functionality - it allows determination of critical parameters of thermal explosion in a well-stirred vessel. This unique feature offers two options - determination of critical temperature for a given heat transfer coefficient (HTC) value and determination of critical HTC value for a given ambient temperature.
The approach to determining critical conditions is based on the well-known Semenov theory with one fundamental difference: while Semenov theory was derived for a single-stage zero-order kinetic model (although some improvements were made to allow this theory to be used for N-order and simple autocatalytic models), the simulation-based method implemented in ARKS HA v 3 allows the use of kinetic models of any complexity or even model-free kinetics

2. The Vent sizing module used in  v 3 has been significantly improved.

3. The demo data were carefully verified and improved.

Version 2.0.0 released 12 October 2020

New unique module for Emergency Relief System design has been added. It allows calculation of the size of a safety device (safety valve, rupture disc and so forth)  on the basis of two simplified methods of flow calculation through a vent line automatically chosen by the Vent Sizing module  depending on peculiarities of the task:

  • the ISO 4126-10 standard "Safety devices for protection against excessive pressure — Part 10: Sizing of safety valves for gas/liquid two-phase flow that is related to reacting system";
  • the J.C. Leung's method.
