VENT

Purpose of the program

The VENT software is the component of the BST package and is intended for steady -state calculation of two-phase flow along a multi-segment pipeline.

VENT can also be used as standalone software. In this case it requires the MIXTURE software to be installed.

The friendly project-oriented interface makes use of VENT easier.

Handling data

VENT is based on the project concept. A project unites all the data necessary for simulation. A VENT project contains data on pipeline construction, hydraulic properties of pipe segments, parameters of simulation, and so forth. In addition it includes the reference to the corresponding MIXTURE project. Every separate project is saved in a data volume of the VENT data base.

Main features of VENT

The pipeline can contain up to 256 hydraulic elements. The following elements are available:

• straight pipes,
• elbows,
• expanders and contractors,
• valves and
• rupture disks.

Every element is described by the appropriate set of parameters.

Flow models in a pipeline:

• one- or two-phase homogeneous equilibrium or frozen for nozzle;
• homogeneous equilibrium or non-equilibrium for pipes.

ATTENTION! When installing Vent under Windows 7 the recommended path is C:\Users\[username]

Installation

VENT 1.4x and higher is compatible with Windows 2000/XP/VISTA/7.

ATTENTION!

• When installing the VENT package the order of installation should be as follows: MIXTURE, VENT.
• When installing VENT under Windows 7 the recommended path is C:\Users\[username]
